What is Let’s Talk Tourism all about?

Let’s talk tourism is an annual conference in Killarney where the main issues affecting the tourism industry are presented. The discussions and outcomes are designed to inform participants and influence policy makers. The event is industry-led and organised. Following on from the success of the last two years, this year’s forum will focus on further challenges and opportunities facing the industry, such as:

  • International trends impacting on tourism: What they mean for Ireland
  • Tourism – An industry strategy for growth to 2025
  • Brexit: What is the impact for travelling to, and tourism in, Ireland?
  • External factors affecting tourism on our island
  • Titanic Belfast – A Case Study
  • Learnings from other markets
  • China: an opportunity

The forum moderator is well known writer and broadcaster Olivia O’Leary.  Invited keynote speakers will address the importance of tourism to Ireland and offer insights on the Irish tourism product. International speakers will deliver case studies and offer their perspectives also.

As well as identifying and debating the issues affecting our industry, this forum will provide delegates with excellent networking opportunities with forum speakers & other tourism business owners from around the country.

If you are a tourism business owner, a tourism professional or are connected with the industry in any way, this is a conference you do not want to miss.  The National Tourism Forum will be a stimulating, entertaining and educational experience that will provide you with plenty of food for thought when you return to your day job. The forum will be hosted in the town of Killarney and is a joint initiative run by the Kerry Branch of the Irish Hotels Federation, Killarney Chamber of Tourism & Commerce, SKAL Republic of Ireland and Kerry County Council. The conference receives support from AIB, Kerry County Council, Fáilte Ireland and Tourism Ireland

Message from the Organising Committee

We are all truly passionate about the industry we work in. As an industry we are sometimes quite fragmented and have not always been good at coming together to discuss the future direction of tourism & national tourism policy. We have often left this to the tourism agencies. This forum is an attempt to start a debate about tourism into the future at grassroots level.

We hope that business owners from around the country, the tourism agencies, tourism colleges, national tourism organisations, local authorities & politicians will all join us in Killarney on 9th November 2018 to participate in this vital conversation about the future of our industry.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Kingdom.
